As one of South Africa’s most prolific comedians, John is well known for his versatility and punishing schedule. Whether he’s writing material in a hotel suite with Jerry Springer, representing his country on stage in a Canadian festival with Drew Carrey following him, hosting a prime-time talk show or entertaining business leaders at their function, he’ll deliver the goods in his signature high-octane style.

Vlismas is a favourite amongst South Africans living abroad and regularly travels to London to cheer up the masses of us over there. He’s featured at the Berlin festival, garnered favourable reviews in Melbourne, and still tours with the largest comedy productions in South Africa; the Kingsize Comedy Jams. He has also been very involved with South African Tourism’s campaign in Australia, including a gala performance at the Sydney Opera House.

John has written, directed and produced six one-man theatre shows. He has scripted and performed for the FNB Life Start, and SAB Brand Power national road shows. He has also produced and directed two prime time TV shows, and regularly performs at his comedy clubs in Melville and Centurion.

All of this is parallel to John’s co-ownership of Virus Communications, a production and media company that develops effective delivery of comedy through technology.
