“This remarkable young South African’s achievements against so many odds have made us appreciate how much we can accomplish no matter what stands in our path. His spirit, enthusiasm and courage serve as a lesson to us all.” Nelson Mandela

At nineteen, Victor Vermeulen was a multi-talented athlete and scholar with an exceptionally bright future as a world class cricketer. He’d already played at Lords the world famous cricket ground for a young South African team and was settling down to a career with Transvaal. Then, he broke his neck in a tragic accident. Instead of dwelling on what might have been, he assessed the positive side of his situation and with the unwavering support of his mother, Isabel, has now established himself as one of South Africa’s most inspirational and sought after motivational speakers. As his message is very much a universal one, he is also in great demand internationally and recently has presented to great acclaim in the USA, UK, and Dubai.

His sporting highlights have included playing in the finals for the Craven Week Rugby trials; in soccer he played SA Schools' Soccer and at age 15, Jomo Sono asked him to play professionally for Cosmos. In Cricket, 4 years Tvl under 19 Schools; he broke Graham Pollock's record (which had stood for 20 years) at Nuffield Week (Provincial Schools) with 175 not out, and which record still stands today.
